Become a Better Reader

101 Great Books

by Nicole Webb

February 19, 2009

One of the best ways to ensure academic success (including standardized tests) is to make sure you READ!

Tips for becoming a better reader:

1.  Find a comfortable place where you can read without distractions.  A couch or a bed is fine, but make sure the TV is off and little brothers or sisters aren't under foot.

2.  Make time each day for reading.  Set aside a specific time each day.

3.  Read what you are interested in!  You can read a goofy magazine or a silly book - it doesn't have to be homework!

4.  Get a library card.  Every student in the Cahokia School District should have one from the school library.  Most students can get one for free from either the Cahokia Public Library or the Centerville Public Library.

Take a look at the link below that lists 101 Great Books for College-Bound Students!
